Please join us in congratulating Steve Leask as the recipient of the December 1999 Asprey Award. The award is funded by a generous donation from Bob and Jo Asprey and given monthly in recognition of C&N employees who have displayed outstanding service. Bob was an employee of C&N during the 1970’s and 1980’s and still understands the challenges our university gives us.
Steve Leask is a relative newcomer to Computing and Networking, joining the Scholarly Technology Group as a Graduate Assistant in Oct of 1997, and becoming a “Specialist” in May of 1998. This mysterious job title of course makes it sounds like Steve is with the CIA, but it is no secret that Steve has made a significant contribution in the creation of new services for faculty who want to implement new instructional technologies. Steve has done an exceptional job of running a training lab, helping with ITAL, WebCT, CHECS, and many other projects.
Steve’s ability to be an instant asset for C&N stems from his professional background in industry, community college experience, experience with other NMSU departments, and his academic work at the masters and Ph.D. (in progress) level. Steve is a wonderful individual and if you haven’t had the opportunity to meet him you should make a point to introduce yourself.
