Please join us in congratulating Byron Hicks as the recipient of the April 1999 Asprey Award. The award is funded by a generous donation from Bob and Jo Asprey and given monthly in recognition of C&N employees who have displayed outstanding service. Bob was an employee of C&N during the 1970’s and 1980’s and still understands the challenges our university gives us.
Byron Hicks started out in the Networking Department by doing an internship and is now a Network Engineer I. Byron has only worked in the department for a short time, but has already been a great contributor. He was instrumental to the successful Internet 2 Conference that was held at NMSU in March 1999. He was tasked with being the Audio Visual Coordinator for the conference. This entailed coordination efforts of a great magnitude as the conference was broadcast on the Internet in three different ways, IPTV, MBone, and Real Audio and Video. NMSU received many kudos from the participants here and around the world due to Byron’s efforts.
